Sir,

I have the honour by direction of the Board 'to report that the attached correspondence relative to the establishment of a reading room for the Sanitary Staff at the District Office in Hollywood Road was considered at a Confiden- tial Meeting held on the 12th. instant, when it was resolved to recommend that the scheme be given a trial for 3 months, and to apply for authority to incur the necessary expenditure which I estimate as follows:-

There are two electric.burners in the

proposed reading room and therefore the cost of lighting would

be about 16 a month.

In the event of the expenditure being approved, it could be met out of the Vote "Incidental Expenses" for 1903.
